Ofsted Inspection 2024: Consistently Good

In their most recent Ofsted inspection, conducted on 3 and 4 December 2024, Churnet View Middle School was once again judged to be a good school. The inspectors highlighted several key strengths:

  • Consistently Applied Routines and High Expectations: The report noted that "consistently applied routines and high expectations ensure lessons are largely free of low-level disruptive behaviour. The corridors are calm. Pupils line up impeccably during the 'check in' and 'check out' at the start and end of the day."

  • Positive Pupil Experiences: Ofsted found that "pupils enjoy school and attend regularly." They also noted that "parents and pupils have positive views of the school," with a "very large majority of parents" saying they would recommend the school to another parent.

  • Ambitious Curriculum and Effective Delivery: The inspectors commended the school's "ambitious curriculum that has literacy and numeracy at its heart," which is "delivered effectively" by our well-trained teachers. This is having a "positive impact on pupils' achievement in reading and mathematics."

These findings are a testament to the hard work and dedication of their staff, the support of their parents and community, and the commitment of their pupils to their own learning and growth.

We are proud of their Ofsted rating and we are sure that they will continue to build on this success, always seeking ways to enhance the educational experience they provide for our pupils. To read the full Ofsted report, please visit their website.
