Scheme of Delegation

Understanding How Our Trust Works: Scheme of Delegation

The Talentum Learning Trust is responsible for the overall management and operation of all academies within the Trust. The Trust Board, as the primary decision-making authority, delegates specific responsibilities to various levels within the organization. This delegation of authority is documented in our Scheme of Delegation, which is reviewed annually. This ensures that everyone understands who is responsible for what.

Key Principles of Delegation

  • Accountability: While certain responsibilities are delegated to Local Governing Bodies (LGBs), Headteachers, the Central Executive Team (CET), and other staff, the Trust Board retains ultimate decision-making authority and accountability for all areas.
  • Empowerment: The Trust empowers local leadership to make decisions appropriate for their academies, fostering a sense of ownership and enabling tailored approaches to school improvement.
  • Clarity: The Scheme of Delegation provides a framework and clear guidance, ensuring transparency and understanding of roles and responsibilities at each level.
  • Support: The Trust provides support to enable all learners to believe in themselves, to succeed in life and to aspire to be all that they can be.

Levels of Responsibility

The Scheme of Delegation outlines the specific responsibilities assigned to different bodies within the Trust:

  • Members: The Members are responsible for approving and amending the Articles of Association. They also appoint the Trust's auditors, receive annual accounts, and hold the Board of Directors accountable for performance and standards within academies.
  • Trust Board: The Trust Board focuses on setting the vision, ethos, and strategic direction of the Trust. They oversee financial performance, hold executive leaders accountable, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. The Trust Board also determines the establishment, function, and delegated powers of the Local Governing Bodies and committees.
  • Local Governing Bodies (LGBs): The LGBs work to promote high standards and ensure students receive a good education that supports their well-being. They provide support and challenge to academy leaders and are accountable to the Trust Board for their actions.
  • Chief Executive Officer (CEO): The CEO provides strategic leadership, ensures the Trust's financial viability, and acts as an ambassador for the Trust. The CEO is also responsible for ensuring that decisions are made in accordance with the scheme of delegation.
  • Central Executive Team (CET): The CET is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the Trust's business, financial, and administrative functions.
  • Headteachers: Headteachers are responsible for the operational leadership, internal organization, management, and control of their academies.
